Humana is intent on delivering a simpler healthcare experience and improving health outcomes for our members.
We are focused on identifying the unmet needs of our members and the communities we serve and turning those opportunities into action. This work continues to evolve as those needs evolve, and we continue to lead the charge through a number of different collaborative efforts.
Knowing that others are on the same path, we developed issue briefs on topics such as loneliness and transportation, consumer and partner-facing education and continuing medical education credits available to our partners. We also joined with peer payers in advocating for proven tools to be considered in crafting new policy.
Our integrated technology efforts with providers help us better understand, and thus better address, the unique clinical and health-related social needs of our individual members. Building on our private sector experiences, we are sharing our ideas industry-wide and working with CMS to create interoperability solutions the industry can use.
We have partnered with the University of Houston to establish the Humana Integrated Health System Sciences Institute to advance the next generation of health professionals’ education through interdisciplinary training with a focus on improving population health outcomes and expanded use of value-based payment models. We are making investments to help ensure the industry is ready for the future.
With standardized measurement, we are working toward integrating social risk data into member health records, giving providers the means and eventual incentive to capture health-related social needs for every patient and address them at each visit based on the patient’s unique health journey.
The Humana Integrated Health System Sciences Institute at the University of Houston welcomes its first class in 2020.
