Humana Healthy Horizons partners with YMCA Learning Academy to provide summer learning programs to Texas students
Humana Healthy Horizons is passionate about student learning inside, and outside, of the classroom. Humana contributed $150,000 to the YMCA Learning Academy to provide financial scholarships for students. Summer learning academies were designed to support students (K-6) through a 5-week program, providing academic and social growth opportunities offering low teacher/student ratios with peer-to-peer interaction. “Research shows that two-thirds of the income-based achievement gap is attributed to summer learning loss,” Jodi Newman, School Age Services Executive Director, YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas, said. “Through the gift from Humana Healthy Horizons, the YMCA will be able to expand how many children we serve, ensuring more than 150 kids will get the academic and mental health support they need throughout the summer months.”
